about five minutes into this video it started to feel less like a minecraft tutorial and more like a guidebook for a piece of real world industrial equipment

I mean... How the hell do you come up with something like this. How do you have such a big brain capacity, to understand the game mechanics so well, that you could build something like this. Its actually insane to me.

two thirds through the video and it's hitting me that this is useless, not because i disagree with the idea of an auto crafter, but because in a survival setting where this would be used, it wouldn't be able to be built in the first place because one, the amount of redstone components you'll need will require it's own autocrafter and two, getting the resources for the components will require the minecraft equivalent of planet cracking

The schematic does not have the right amount of items in the itemfilters and the other dropper and hopper which makes it way harder to built.

You forgot sponges. With sponges you can bridge over. I extremely recommend you to put lots of elder guardians for mining fatigue

Most people running paper don't want giant machines on their server. I hate playing on those servers honestly, but it is up to them to decide what kind of experience they want. Some people actually like digging in caves for hours on end, I don't get it, but it is how most people play the game. Very hard to cater to both the people who just hop on to build and farm a little and the people who make massive redstone devices using every game mechanic to its fullest. My best advice is to not play on those servers. By disabling these important features they are sending a message that they do not want technical players on their server. Sometimes the gameplay loop the admin's want does not include giant farms. That is basically the entire reason I play Minecraft, so I stick to smaller technical communities that will actually appreciate the time put into designing these things. Nothing sucks more than to build a massive farm to then realize that a core mechanic doesn't work or for an admin to arbitrarily remove your stuff because they decided last minute that the nether roof is off limits. It sucks tho because the best technical communities are basically invite only, but there are lots of SMPs out there for you if you hone your skills and actively look for people that need members. Way more fun that way too, when it is a close-knit community and not a bunch of people basically playing singleplayer with lag. I got into my first technical server as a builder with 0 redstone knowledge, they just thought I was chill and liked my builds. I made a lot of friends and got to play the game the way I wanted to play it.

Why on earth are people comparing using fabric and papermc? You all know fabric uses mods and papermc uses plugins, right? If you want light mods, use fabric, if you want plugins, use paper and *configure it the way you like*.
